Experience Co. are excited to be building the first new pontoon on the Great Barrier Reef in over a decade.ย

At 1003sqm, the new pontoon will be one of the biggest on the Great Barrier Reef, and will have a daily capacity of up to 250 guests but will be in survey for 400 passengers ensuring a spacious environment for all. These guests will enjoy features such as a unique water entry point for swimming & snorkelling like a dedicated dive boat, but on a much bigger scale (the first of its kind on the Great Barrier Reef), a 10-seat air-conditioned underwater observatory with floor to ceiling windows, and a fully functioning scientific lab where reef research and projects will be conducted. This is all in addition to their existing product offerings including fish feeding, intro and certified diving, guided snorkel tours, one of the largest helmet diving circuits on the Great Barrier Reef and a huge sundeck with sun loungers so passengers can lay back and relax in comfort while admiring the views of the outer reef.

Sustainability is also at the forefront of the new pontoon, with wind and solar generators generating 48 kWh through three wind turbines and 18 solar panels, which is yet another first for the North Queensland region.

Located at Moore Reef just 45km off the city of Cairns, the new pontoon will be a welcome addition to not only the Experience Co. portfolio, but also the region itself as it will provide new job opportunities as well as increased tourism in the area.

Our new pontoon is scheduled to welcome customers from early 2022.
